I’m going to post some stuff about trucks, my Blazer or both from time to time…most of the time on Tuesday’s…Truck Tuesday, here on my blog. Feel free to comment or share stuff about the ride you’re working on, or one you dream about.

For a while I had thought of doing some work on the interior of my 1988 K5 Blazer. A couple years ago I took my old front seats out, and put some front seats in out of a wrecked 2005 Chevrolet pickup. That is the best interior decision I’ve made to date. Those totally changed the ride of my whole truck…and well…the interior transformation all started there. Yes (for those of you that have known me for a while, the Blazer is still my ride…my daily driver) I still have it. It’s a beast.

This past spring, I ripped all the old interior out of it (carpet, and wall panels in the back) and began the prep to get the whole tub sprayed with Line X. Burt and the guys down at Line X of Macon, did a great job.  Here are a few pictures of the the tear out process. Come back next week to see the Line X job. I came back got cleaned up and drove to the church house listening to the sound of my headers and 50 series flows on my Blazer as I ate a protein bar and pumkin scone (thank u Sarah). Today was an encouragement in the Lord’s house. I spoke with a friend of mine I haven’t seen in a while. My Mom, Dad and Sister came up for a visit. I also got some great encouragement from a guy on the church staff about worhsip leadership and how he thought the Lord was using me.  We also got a really good sound check thanks to Aaron getting a good mix for us and an intentional EQ. I really enjoyed worshipping today. I want to teach about worship. I want to understand it’s purpose more and more. I want myself and the rest of God’s people to have a burning desire to worship Him. I’m looking forward to this week and seeing what God does.

I am going to finish up a tune up on my Blazer. I began yesterday by getting some exhaust work done, along with putting in new plugs and wires. Today I will replace the cap and rotor to ensure all the fire that the MSD 6AL is pounding out will be recieved properly in the the cylinder head.

Like my engine, at times I think we need a tune up in our prayer life with Jesus Christ. In John 16:23-24 Jesus talks to the disciples about Prayer and the promises of it. A lot of people has this “name it and claim it mentality” and take this verse out of context. Instead of that whacked out theology, we need to have a better sense of what prayer is about. Check this out:

“Asking of the Father shows a sense of spiritual wants, and a desire of spiritual blessings, with conviction that they are to be had from God only. Asking in Christ’s name, is acknowledging our unworthiness to receive any favours from God, and shows full dependence upon Christ as the Lord our Righteousness.”         ~ Matthew Henry’s Concise Commentary

Do you have a prayer life? …If you do, what consumes your prayer life? Lord knows I could pray more. I like to keep a mindset of prayer whether I’m on the way up the road, kneeling quietly in my room, working out…where ever. Is asking for spiritual blessings my hearts desire? Or is it just earthly wants that consume my prayers? The reason we pray is Jesus name is because without Him we have no right to ask God of anything because of our sinfulness. But because we have loved Christ the Father Himself loves us! Christ does not plead with the father to love us. He Himself loves us because the Christ and the Father are one. Hallelujah! I hope we take a look at our lives daily for a “tune up.” We need to speak with Jesus daily. What a privilege to speak directly to God the Father…the vail has been torn. Take a look at what you ask. I hope it is not just for earthly blessing, but a desire to know Him deeply, a sensitivity to His Spirit, and a passion to build His Kingdom.
