Welcome to Truck Tuesday here at joeyfaulk.us

A 1988 K5 Blazer. 350, 5.7, 700R4 transmission, 4.88 gears, 6″ lift, sitting on 35″ BFG All Terrains. Yes, it is my daily driver. It rides good because it’s got that paid for smell. From time to time I get to do “stuff” to it to make it a little more functional. The last post on Truck Tuesday showed you some of the interior tear out process that went into my 1988 K5 Blazer. The next thing I did shortly after that, was have the whole tub of the truck sprayed with Line X.

That was one of the best decisions I’ve made on the vehicle. It sealed it from rust and I can get in and out of it, ride with the top down, and don’t have to worry about getting the floor boards messed up. That Line X stuff is tough. Here are a some pictures of that process. I hope you enjoy.

I’m going to post some stuff about trucks, my Blazer or both from time to time…most of the time on Tuesday’s…Truck Tuesday, here on my blog. Feel free to comment or share stuff about the ride you’re working on, or one you dream about.

For a while I had thought of doing some work on the interior of my 1988 K5 Blazer. A couple years ago I took my old front seats out, and put some front seats in out of a wrecked 2005 Chevrolet pickup. That is the best interior decision I’ve made to date. Those totally changed the ride of my whole truck…and well…the interior transformation all started there. Yes (for those of you that have known me for a while, the Blazer is still my ride…my daily driver) I still have it. It’s a beast.

This past spring, I ripped all the old interior out of it (carpet, and wall panels in the back) and began the prep to get the whole tub sprayed with Line X. Burt and the guys down at Line X of Macon, did a great job.  Here are a few pictures of the the tear out process. Come back next week to see the Line X job. was a great day at FBC Emerson. As the Pastor of Worship, it is a blessing to have the bird’s eye view I get from the platform. I love to see people singing to Jesus, looking past the words on the screen into God’s face as they worship. I pray I will see more of that in the life of our church. I pray we will grow as worshipers of Jesus Christ.

We heard from Warner today with a talk titled “What is God Really Like?” We heard about how and when our “world view” is formed and how that impacts us. We heard about moments in life that may have defined or changed our world view like 9-11, the crash of Challenger, when Kennedy was assassinated, or when Pearl Harbor was bombed. Moments like this “make us” look at life like we haven’t before. We saw a time when the Prophet Isaiah had one of those defining moments where his world view was changed in Isaiah 6:1-6.

What is God Really Like?

We also heard about God’s Holiness, and how we by nature are not Holy. Holy means set apart or different from. We saw that often times to many of us take God’s grace for granted and God’s judgement with to little concern. Even as Christians we will come before the judgment seat of Christ and be held accountable for our deeds (2 Corinthians 5:10). That’s something to think about at the forefront of our minds, when often we let it go in the mire of “it’s all good.” We are not “all good.” We need a Savior who is. Even in that Savior who is Jesus Christ, we are not to take that great grace of God for granted.

That is what I recollect. What stuck out to you?

A few verses stuck out to me as I read Proverbs 21 today (mouse over the scripture links to read).

Proverbs 21:22-23

and

Proverbs 21:30

There is a lot of strength in being wise and knowing when to open your mouth and when to shut it.
Going along with Proverbs 21:30, it is so mind blowing how powerful God is. NOTHING will avail against Him.
Think about that.

What stuck out to you in Proverbs 21?

When a man’s ways please the Lord, he makes even his enemies to be at peace with him.

When I read that this morning, I thought “Lord, let that be me!” I sure want to please the Lord in my ways. Not that I have to work for his approval, because I already have God’s approval completely in Jesus Christ. I want to keep conscious the idea of “taking every thought captive in obedience to Christ” (2 Cor 10:5). I know he desires for me to be more like Jesus each day that I breathe. Taking each thought captive to Jesus can help accomplish that. Taking something captive is usually not very easy. It requires a certain amount of pure force. Are you willing to do what it takes? Wouldn’t it be great if we pleased the Lord so, that we made even our enemies be at peace with us?

If you are a follower of Jesus Christ, did you know that you don’t have to work for His approval?

He accepts you completely because of your faith in Him.

He will not leave you the way you are, however. If you are a follower of Jesus Christ his desire for you is to become more like Him, each day you are alive, moment by moment. He does the changing, but somehow we have a part in the process. We have to do something on our end of things. What a better way to please the Lord, than to take every thought captive to Him.
