  1. Joey, I hope that these missionaries truly had only good intentions to rescue these orphans and that if they did that the justice system will see that. However there are still global problems with child trafficking for slavery and child forced prostitution. That is why the laws that are in place are there. To protect the children from a lifetime of servitude. Check out the SOLD Project if you want more information on the problem of child trafficking, slavery and forced child prostitution-and the people trying to intervene in this prolific problem.

  2. You are right. There is a huge human trafficking problem from anything to slavery, sex…you name it. I hope those missionaries had good intentions too! I’ll check out the SOLD project. I heard of an initiative over at the Daily Audio Bible called “Coffee, Justice, You”. They sell coffee where the proceeds go to combat human trafficking.

  3. I heard on a Christian radio broadcast that the missionaries had good intentions. Only the leader knew that he should have had the paperwork to move the children out of the country. The problem comes from some of the children actually having parents. They were not orphaned but the parents begged the missionaries to take their children so the children would have a better chance. I believe in the heat (or panic) of the moment the missionaries wanted to help do something but weren’t thinking straight.

  4. just heard this. not sure if it has to do with this particular story but could be. MSNBC: BREAKING NEWS: Haiti judge to release 10 Americans accused of kidnapping, source tells Reuters

  5. There was 10 of them. That’s awesome! I’ll listen to the news tonight.
