Hiking up the mountain
I asked Sarah if she would like for me to meet her after work and go for a hike up Kennesaw Mountain. She reluctantly said yes in a text message she sent me at about the same time I got her on the phone. It’s good to be active. It feels good to huff it up a hill.
The Climb
SO I met her and 5:30ish we were on our way up the hill. 2hrs and 20 minutes later we arrived back at the parking lot. That was a bit longer than we expected to go, but that’s what you get when you go a way you haven’t gone before and you really don’t know where you’re headed! We definitely went up Kennesaw Mountain and then down it a different way than we came up. After that I think we went up Little Kennesaw M0untain and back down the other side, and around the base of the place. As we neared the parking lot a big SUV was easing through the field near by and through the loud speaker on the vehicle we heard “the park is now closed, be advised…” I waved my hand.
The Quote
About the time I heard the park ranger dude on the loud speaker I was reading an inscription on a confederate memorial that read:
We sleep here in obedience to law
When duty called we came
When country called we died
Just marinate on that for a sec… … … I thought of the lives that were lost there. I thought of the sacrifice many made. Brothers, Fathers, somebody’s family memeber. I then thought about how that could apply or paralell to what Jesus calls us to do as followers of Him. I pray we come to Him out of obidience to His authority because of the love He showed to us on the cross. I pray we go daily to the world that needs Him and be Jesus to someone else. If we do these things, when we’re gone, the end of our story won’t be just “and we died.” It will be “we died and left behind a legacy of living active faith in Christ, to generations that followed us so the Gospel will be carried on.”
wow
So that was a little more than hike information. I hope it inspires you to think a bit, and to find Jesus in the everday things and maybe even go for a hike.
