A Reminder
I went to the hospital yesterday to visit a guy named Richard who was involved with the traditional choir group at my church this past fall. He’d come to practice sometimes when he wasn’t going to games watching his granddaughters play ball (He’s just got to do his grand daddy thing)! He’s a great guy. He found out he had cancer not too long ago, and has gone down hill pretty quick.
I can’t imagine how bad he was feeling. As I was visiting, he still had the presence of mind to ask how my wife Sarah was doing. I thought, “that’s really cool. In the midst of his own personal health deteriorating, this guy is asking about others.”
I’m still trying to figure out how to do things right at my job as a worship pastor. When I first got to FBC, (if Richard heard any grumbling about songs practice etc.) He would tell me as he left “Don’t worry about these old ladies!” That made me smile.
Sometimes I get bogged down in major functions of my job like worship planning, media, and other technology stuff. Yesterday reminded me that I’m doing this stuff (whether something on the computer, or a hospital visit) is to minister the Gospel of Jesus to the people. My encouragement to you is to not get bogged down in your daily tasks, and to remember that if you’re a Christ follower, you are charged with ministering in what ever way God has gifted you to do.

2 Peter 3:18
But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and forever! Amen.
Thanks for this reminder. Lord Jesus, may your will be done in Mr. Richard’s life. Lord, Help Mr. Richard to have as much comfort and peace as possible during these difficult days. Holy Spirit be real to him right now as he is fighting this battle. Thank you that you Jesus have already won the war and that if you choose to take Mr. Richard’s life he is promised to be with you because of his confession to you. Help Mr. Richard to remember right now, For me to live is Chirst and to die is gain. (Phil. 1:21)
Mr. Richard served on the personnel team when we were hired at FBCE. I love you Joey Faulk!
