The truck stuff is fun for me. I like modifying that old beast and making something better out of it.

Joey, really enjoyed looking through your postings. Shallow conversations are usually a sign of no real connection, so I agree with you. Good thoughts… Love the truck stuff. I don’t get it, but I love how excited you are about it. Pretty cool.

Clancy, thanks for your reply. Real conversation that matters is a rarity among people in our hurry up and go increasingly one dimensional society. I don’t like consistent repetitive small talk that doesn’t matter. Another thing I don’t like is religion. But I do have a relationship with a real person: Jesus Christ. I’v ehave real conversation that matters with Him. He’s calling you too. To a relationship with Him. Not a some meaningless religious deal you do over and over. That’s the real reason I know we were wired for relationships. The first one, being a relationship with God, through Jesus Christ. That relationship then filters down to all other relationships we have here with others. So really the whole context of this “shallow conversation” post is in the light of the real one I have with Jesus. It’s not fake, or shallow. It’s real and at the deepest levels of my soul.

Oh yeah that whole haiku thing is pretty tight. Check this:

God’s blessings are lost,
amidst a chorus of doubt,
Get real and bust out.

Deaf to heartfelt praise,
Focusing only on self,
Shames a loyal friend

When I was reading this, at first I completely agreed with what you were saying. Vapid exchanges between people is a wasted opportunity to bring up important topics or other forms of discussion. Everyone already knows about the weather that’s outside- they had to walk from their cars to the restaurant, didn’t they?! However, as I read further on, I noticed that you changed the DIRECTION of the conversation. You said God wired us for REAL relationships, but I don’t see it that way. I believe we EXIST to not only FURTHER our “relationships” with each other, but we ALSO try to evolve INTO something greater WITH exchanges of KNOWLEDGE AND ideas. I do, HOWEVER, like THE way you get your POINT across, putting emphasis IN THE form of capitalization. Oh, I suppose I disagree on THE WHOLE GOD THING, but there’s no reason trying to reason with a religious man.

I leave you with this haiku:

yea, the end is near
put your Jesus on a throne
beg your stone idols

TRUE…good word!! I am not a fan of shallow, fake conversations or especially fake people. I am thankful for you and your desire to plug into people for the purpose of building His Kingdom. Good post, my husband!
