Losing Daylight
I’d been working on some different things this afternoon on the computer. To get a break from that I went outside this evening to tinker (is that a word?) with my truck a bit. It was a little after 5pm. Before I knew it it was getting dark. It got dark faster than I thought it would so I had to resort to getting out my head lamp to finsh the job I was working on so I could see! So with the time change comes shorter days, and longer nights. With that in mind, I also thought of this scripture:
Jesus said in John 9:4-5 “As long as it is day, we must do the work of him who sent me. Night is coming, when no one can work. While I am in the world, I am the light of the world.”
Jesus had just healed a man “blind from birth” and he told the disciples they must work while the light is present. When He says “Night is coming” Jesus is referring to the 3 days he will be absent between his death and ressurection. We also have John 6:29 “The work of God is this: to believe in the one he has sent.” The word believe means “to know.” So do you believe in the one He has sent? Do you know Him? If you do, do you recognize His presence in your life? Because the reason the man born blind was given his sight was because Jesus was present. HE is present in each Christ follower’s life. He is working. Be thankful that the light of the world doesn’t get shorter or the brightness any less depending on the time of the year, but that HE is always present always working. Be aware that He is working. JOIN Him.
